First Annual 'Basketball in Regional Victoria' Conference
May 06, 2016

Basketball Victoria are launching a new annual conference.

Basketball Victoria Country are launching an Annual “Basketball in Regional Victoria” conference. This year, the conference will be held in Bendigo on the weekend of the 18th and 19th of June.  This conference is targeted at Country Associations, and we are hopeful that at least two people from each association will attend.
BVC has secured Professor Russell Hoye GAICD, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research Development) & Director, La Trobe Sport, La Trobe University as our Key Note Speaker. He will deliver an address on research conducted regarding the social value of community sport organisations, and the role of social capital in determining the capacity of community sport organisations.
We will also be joined by Nick Honey, Basketball Victoria CEO, Anthony Moore, Basketball Australia CEO, Lisa Hasker, Basketball Australia’s General Manager, Community & Stakeholder Relations and Basketball Australia’s Jan Stirling, newly appointed General Manager of High Performance.  This highly esteemed panel will be available to discuss basketball at all levels in Australia and will give associations the opportunity to talk about basketball with the key decision makers in our sport.
The conference will also deliver significant information to associations around Online Registrations and Website Development. BVC/BV/BA programs including Aussie Hoops and Sporting Schools will also be discussed, along with information and training regarding media and marketing, the value of economic impact statements and the basketball economic footprint in all areas. Coach and Referee Development, and what is happening in this space, will also be a key message delivered on the weekend.
Most importantly, the conference will deliver success stories from Country Associations. What has worked well, and how this has driven the Country associations to a new level. If your association has achieved success in a particular area, such as a program or activity, we want to hear about.
